Creative Hobbying based on Your Astrological Sign
In honor of the official launch of The Cozy Cottage, I’ve written an extra special and playful blog post! You may have seen the trend on social media wherein your astrological sign is matched to specific activities, experiences, places, objects, or even personas. In my previous blog post, “Creative Hobbies that Cultivate Joy,” I shared some of the life-enriching benefits of pursuing creative hobbies; I then thought it would be fun to utilize this internet trend. Thus, I’ve spent many hours consulting the zodiac, researching niche hobbies, and I believe I’ve come up with a more mystical (and possibly transcendental) list of creative hobbies. If you’re intrigued, then read on!
Aries ♈️
Dates: March 21st – April 19th
Element: Fire
You are often described as fiery, passionate, and a natural-born leader. You are courageous and determined. A creative hobby such as glassblowing, fire dancing, or fire photography taps directly into your element. Other artforms such as pottery, especially Raku (a technique of firing pottery and then placing it in a container of combustible materials like newspaper, sawdust, or horsehair), requires determination and courage to face the heat. You might also enjoy performance art and spicy cooking. 🌶️
Taurus ♉️
Dates: April 20th – May 20th
Element: Earth
As someone who is kind and loyal, hobbies like gardening or homebrewing may appeal to you. Wildlife photography could be a natural way to connect with your Earth element, allowing you to appreciate the beauty of the world. Your patience and generosity make you well-suited for origami, cake decorating, or jewelry making. Plus with Venus as your ruling planet, you value the pretty things in life. 😍
Gemini ♊️
Dates: May 21st – June 20th
Element: Air
Having air as your element, makes hobbies such as kite flying and cloud/sky photography very fitting. Blending essential oils or mastering mixology is sure to satisfy your curiosity. As a highly independent and charming person, you would likely excel at improv or stand-up comedy, which would also allow you to leverage your fun and witty nature. Everyone loves a good laugh! 🪁
Cancer ♋️
Dates: June 21st – July 22nd
Element: Water
Sweet sentimental Cancer, if you’ve never tried scrapbooking or songwriting before, now is your chance. As someone who is deeply compassionate and emotional you may find immense comfort through hobbies such as baking, knitting, or crocheting. Beachcombing and underwater photography would most certainly appeal to your water element as well as your ruling planet, the Moon, which as we know affects the tides. 🐚
Leo ♌️
Dates: July 23rd – August 22nd
Element: Fire
Leo, everyone knows when you’ve “entered the chat.” Your confidence and fun personality radiate, making you perfect for singing, ballroom dancing, and fashion photography (most definitely high fashion). As someone who is charismatic you might gravitate towards painting, probably favoring a warm color palette. Hobbies like blacksmithing or bladesmithing as well as wood burning help you connect with your fire element. 🔥
Virgo ♍️
Dates: August 23rd – September 22nd
Element: Earth
Ah, humble Virgo, you are both practical and organized, which is why you may enjoy soap making. Paper crafting or collaging helps you connect with your Earth element. Your patient nature would thrive in calligraphy, drawing, and miniature making. And if you were to take up photography, you would most likely capture landscapes, once again connecting with the Earth. 🌏
Libra ♎️
Dates: September 23rd – October 22nd
Element: Air
You’re naturally artistic, although perhaps a bit indecisive. Therefore, creating multimedia art would certainly suit you, dear Libra. With Venus as your ruling planet, you might consider trying your hand at makeup artistry or interior decoration. You’re also romantic. So what better hobby to take up than stargazing?! Blogging or journaling is another way to engage with your artistic side, and as a friendly person, you would make a wonderful portrait photographer. 🥰
Scorpio ♏️
Dates: October 23rd – November 21st
Element: Water
Scorpio, you’re mysterious and resourceful by nature. I think that wildcrafting or true crime podcasting would tickle your fancy. An artform like Sumi-e (Japanese ink painting) would help you connect with your water element. Your two ruling planets of Pluto and Mars, could make you a fierce actor or nocturnal photographer. Finally, your power and bravery, along with your mysteriousness, would certainly lend itself very well to crystal ball or tarot card reading. 🔮
Sagittarius ♐️
Dates: November 22nd – December 21st
Element: Fire
Out of all the signs, your adventurous spirit is unparalleled! You would be fantastic at travel vlogging and adventure sports photography. Because you’re free-spirited, hobbies such as poetry slamming, ecstatic dancing, and fluid art (paint pouring) would likely make your heart sing. And we shouldn’t forget your fire element, as hibachi cooking may just be the thing you’ve been missing in your life. 💖
Capricorn ♑️
Dates: December 22nd – January 19th
Element: Earth
A question for you, Capricorn: what creative hobbies do you get when you have an Earth sign who is disciplined, ambitious, and traditional? I imagine you tending to your bonsai, painting with Earth pigments and sculpting. Another traditional art form that requires discipline is weaving, which I know you’d excel at doing. As a smart and realistic person, you may even enjoy bookbinding or still-life photography. 🪴
Aquarius ♒️
Dates: January 20th – February 18th
Element: Air
Aquarius, you are the cool and eccentric air sign of the zodiac. I see you shining at competitive punning or burlesque dancing! You may even dabble in dirty car art. Sure it’s weird, but who cares? As a humanitarian, you likely enjoy plant-based cooking, since you know it’s kinder to animals, people, and the planet. To get you in touch with your air element, I suggest trying out the flying trapeze or taking up aerial photography. 🦋
Pisces ♓️
Dates: February 19th – March 20th
Element: Water
And last, but certainly not least, the creative and faithful Pisces. You were born for creative writing and storytelling! Your vast imagination means that you would take to mermaiding like a fish to water. Embroidery most certainly suits your delicate and sensitive nature, while contemporary dance allows you to express your emotions through movement. Let’s not neglect your deep connection to water, which you could feel viscerally through watercolor painting and dreamy photography. 🧜♀️
Well my lovely reader, we’ve made it through the zodiac! I hope you’ve enjoyed this fun little blog and are feeling inspired to try some new creative hobbies. I really loved learning more about each of the astrological signs and challenging myself to think of unique hobbies to match. I’ll be back in a fortnight with another creatively focused blog post. Until then keep hobbying, and whatever you decide to try, I hope that you discover something new and feel a deeper sense of connection with yourself.
