The Cozy Cottage is Expanding

It is currently 5:52am, and I’ve sat down to write. It is still dark, as I’ve chosen to keep the lights off. The dim glow of my laptop screen is all that I need for now. I’m seated cross-legged on a plush blanket with a pillow behind me as I lean against the wall for support, a makeshift and rather comfortable arrangement. It is raining outside, and I can hear the muffled tapping of the raindrops against the windows and slate roof.

I’ve been envisioning this moment for the past several months, and it is even more idyllic than I could have imagined. I must confess something very exciting…I’m writing from County Wexford, Ireland! After two years of planning, preparing, and sacrificing, my family and I have safely moved internationally. This has been a dream in the making for two years, and I’m deeply grateful to be here.

I have so much that I want to share about this journey of moving to Ireland. Rest assured that I will be writing more about my family’s move in future posts. For now though, I want to honor this moment and invite you into this quiet, calm space with me. If you’d like, please join me in taking a deep breath. Inhale through the nose. Exhale softly through the mouth. Breathe in. Breathe out. 😌

There are so many horrible injustices and atrocities happening all across our world, and sometimes it can feel as though things are just getting worse and worse. I believe though that even in the darkest moments of our lives, individually and collectively, there is still reason to hope. When I first began this blog, I thought that the primary focus should center around creativity. While I intend to continue exploring the many facets of creative living, I also want to expand The Cozy Cottage. I want to build a space and community that is safe and supportive, to be a warm light amidst the darkness. I intend to do this in part by sharing more personal stories: the happy, the sad, and everything in between.
